It’s been a long, cold lonely winter …
“Feels good to be back. Live events. Coaching. Race school. Test days. Flying. Sunday Scrambles. I have a couple of talented drivers that I am working with in 2021 - one is an ambitious young karter with an eye on a career in the sport, we are testing and racing at a furious pace, the other has already enjoyed a magnificent career in the sport - he’s Britain’s most prolific race car designer and manufacturer - and races for pleasure, but in a very serious manner.”
Frankly being back at the trackside coaching is a joy - I love this stuff. As my media gallery demonstrates, I have A LOT of experience to pass on. The ‘live’ season kicked off with the ‘BBC Children in Need’ Karting Enduro at Whilton Mill, moved to Sywell Aerodrome for the Ferrari Owners Club GB National Day, then on to Classic Performance Engineering at Bicester Heritage for the Sunday Scramble. No clue where we go next, but I’ll be ready.
Classic Performance Engineering is my second home - and I’m looking forward to bringing the 911 race car back to base as soon as Tech9 complete the dyne runs and set-up work. The CPE team will help me prepare the old girl for combat.
The plan is to contest the final three HSCC races of 2021 - Oulton Park, Mallory Park and Silverstone National. Add in a bunch of tests to shake the freshly rebuilt motor down, and the scene is set for a cracking finale to 2021.
And a fresh start to life.
